Director of Development
The Associate Alumnae of Douglass College (AADC) is seeking an
experienced, creative and detail-oriented Director of Development
to oversee all aspects of a comprehensive development program with
an emphasis on major gifts and gift planning. The Associate Alumnae
of Douglass College is preparing to begin a capital campaign and
the Director of Development will be the lead staff member in this
effort. The Director of Development also will oversee the Associate
Director of Development who is responsible for the annual giving
program comprised of direct mail and a telefund program.
Responsibilities Include:
Identify, cultivate, and solicit donors and prospects and facilitate
the involvement of the AADC Executive Director, College Dean, other
key staff members, board members and volunteers in this process.
Acknowledge and steward major donors.
Prepares the department’s strategic plan with short-
and long-term goals to meet AADC fundraising objectives.
Responsible for reunion and other special fundraising.
Travel in and out of state to visit donors and prospects.
Responsible for various fundraising budgets.
Monitor and evaluate all Annual Fund activities.
Supervise the Associate Director of Development/Director
of the Douglass Annual Fund.
Assist the Executive Director with other duties as required.
Professional Requirements:
Five or more years of successful fundraising experience
in a leadership position in the nonprofit sector.
Demonstrated success in major donor cultivation and solicitation
or translatable experience.
Proven ability to network successfully and to develop and
maintain relationships with donors and successfully close gifts.
Excellent written and interpersonal communication skills.
Demonstrated ability to work independently; prioritize multiple
tasks and complete assignments in a timely and proficient manner.
Experience in database management, fundraising software
and spreadsheets.
Experience working effectively with a board of directors,
committees, and other volunteers.
Ability to function effectively as a team member - including
setting goals, resolving problems, and making decisions.
Ability to work well under pressure and meet goals and deadlines.
