Connecting With Students

There are many opportunities for alumnae to bond with current Douglass Students.

Extern Progam

>>Extern Program Details and Applications

Each year, hundreds of students work for a week or two (during winter and spring semester breaks) with volunteer alumnae mentors whose careers most closely parallel their own particular interests.

AADC Extern Program
Receives Lipman Award

March 2005 -- The Extern Program has won The Senator Wynona M. Lipman Award for an outstanding community organization in the category of Mentoring.

Presented by The New Jersey Department of Community Affairs' Divison on Women and the New Jersey Advisory Commission on the Status of Women, this competitive award is named in honor of the late Senator Wynona M. Lipman; the first African American woman elected to the New Jersey State Senate and champion of causes for women, minorities and children while serving in the legislature.

The AADC Extern Program prepares future leaders, by connecting students with alumnae mentors who share their professional experience and allow students to "try on a career for size."

Congratulations to our AADC Alumnae Relations Directors Debbie Spenard and Martie Record for their outstanding work and to our Extern Committee members who give tirelessly to the program.

Recruitment

The Douglass Alumnae Recruitment Team (DART) program is in search of alumnae to volunteer to attract high-achieving students to Douglass College. To find out more, contact us, visit the DART web site or contact the Director of Recruitment, Kimberly C. Owens at 732/932-9500.

Senior Reception

During Senior Week prior to Commencement, the AADC hosts a “Zero Year Reunion” to congratulate the graduating seniors and officially welcome them to the Alumnae Association.

Founders Day

Founders Day celebrates the founding of the College on April 12, 1918. At Founders Day, held each April, students have the opportunity to meet and converse with the newest inductees to the Douglass Society.

Scholarship Dinner

The Douglass Scholarship Dinner, held in the Spring, honors alumnae and friends whose gifts have helped provide scholarships, special programs, and academic enrichment funds.
